About now your head
should be spinning with all types of unanswered questions. Who,
what, when, why, and how should be plummeting around in your brain.
I’ve listed the most common questions in this section, and
if your question’s not there, don’t worry: click around
on this website or contact
me!
- How
do I get started?
How do you find a qualified business coach who will understand
you and your business? How do you start a relationship with
the business coach you suspect may be the right “fit”
for you? All answers start with conversation. Find out more
about the process of finding the right coach for you here,

Garry Oskamp here.
- What is coaching?
Coaching is the partnering with you in order to move to or attain
a position, plateau, or goal to which you would not have access
alone.
- What is executive coaching?
Executive coaching is the partnering with a company executive
to cause the company to increase revenue and the executive to
gain time.
- What are the benefits of coaching?
The benefits of coaching are clarity of vision, definitive purpose,
and the self-accountability of progress through measureable
goal achievement.
- What are the features of coaching?
The features of coaching may be addressed in two ways. First,
the foundation of the features is in the alignment of client
actions with client wishes. The client holds his/her own feet
to the fire to accomplish whatever it is that the client says
he/she wishes to accomplish. Second, and in a procedural fashion,
the features of coaching may be described as how the client-coach
meetings occur. This requires conversation, but in general,
please know that I offer face-to-face and virtual coaching sessions.
If you select face-to-face, I come to you, and coach you in
your environment….office, home, neutral location. Virtual
sessions are by telephone and are scheduled during the business
day at a time which is mutually satisfactory to both of us.
You, as client, place a telephone call to me, as your coach.
I do not move a client time in order to please another client.
If you have an established time, that time is yours until you
choose another. Fees vary according to the type of coaching
selected.
- How much do you charge?
Again, fees vary according to the type of coaching selected.
My fees range between $500 -$2,500/month depending on client
needs.
- What determines the cost?
As a general rule, the more time required, the higher the fee.
Corporations usually require their executives to remain on-site,
necessitating my traveling to the executive thereby increasing
costs to the organization. However, inasmuch as I work with
CEO’s, CFO’s, and other C-level officers, corporations
tend to favor paying my rate to travel and keep their executive
team in place. If you can benefit from virtual coaching, fees
are somewhat less.
- How do retainers work?
Retainer-based businesses require payment for a service at the
beginning of the period of service. For example, I almost always
work by the month. At the beginning of a month, the corporation
deposits the monthly fee into my account by bank routing number,
or the individual has his/her check in my hand before the month
begins.
I do not take a contract as do many coaches. Indeed, many coaches
require the taking of a contract from, at least, 6 months to
a year. I do not. It is my philosophy that we work together
as long as it benefits both of us to do so. When our time together
is over, we’ll know it. The legal binding of one to the
other is not my idea of how a mutually supportive and growing
relationship should work.
- Do you respond to RFP’s?
Yes, but I must know the individual requesting the RFP or be
introduced to the individual by someone I know and trust. I
do not respond to mass RFP requests.
- How do you work with multiple coachees?
As each coachee is added to the mix, we gain something and we
lose something. What we gain is new and fresh ideas from another
person. What we lose is unity of purpose and direction —
Why? — because we all have opinions and those opinions
are seldom or never the same as ours. How I work with added
participants is I increase my fee FOR EACH PERSON ADDED. Why?
— because too many cooks spoil the stew.
- Does Garry do all the work?
NO! Garry has a virtual assistant, and many document processing,
message taking, and office procedures are performed by the VA.
All actual coaching is performed by Garry. You will not get
a junior coach or a different coach to discuss your company’s
dynamics or your most closely held dreams.
- What does Garry do for fun?
Garry rides horses, plays golf, enjoys the family 5-acre home
with his wife, Diana, 4 horses, 3 dogs, 1 cat, 6 pocket parrots,
and a verbose African Grey Parrot.
