groups
On occasion, I have been asked to coach a group wherein the participants
have some commonality which causes them to have similar interests
and a similar business structure. Now, what do I mean by that?
I mean the participants are all in the same or a similar type
of business; they may be all contractors, retailers, attorneys,
financial service professionals, or trades people of a similar
type. In brief, I do not put service providers with retailers,
contractors with attorneys, or any dissimilar business with another
dissimilar business. This should be obvious: Different businesses
have different needs. Retailers have inventory which speaks to
an entirely different set of issues than does a pest control business.
I group coach with similar businesses because the participants
learn not just from me, but from the other participants as well.
The format I use for group coaching is virtual. The features
are reduced cost since I can offer this format at a lower cost
than individual coaching, and still earn a reasonable wage. The
participants gain from knowledge of peers as well as have a professional
coach facilitating the meeting. I require a minimum of 5 participants,
and limit the size of the group to 10. At 5, there is a synergy
in the group, and energy grows as the meetings continue and results
are achieved. Beyond 10, there is not enough time and space to
address the concerns of each participant, and often those less-verbose
participants feel left out. That is not acceptable in my opinion.
Additionally, I do not put the groups together. If a business
person wishes to be group coached, he or she is charged with locating
the other participants. If I know of another suitable participant
or two for a particular group, I will freely offer the names of
possible entrants, but I do not actively search for participants
to fill out a dance card.
classes
Now, as to classes, I teach small classes of 5-10 people on specified
subjects for specified periods of time. I am usually asked to
teach a subset of employees for corporations. The topics vary,
and are requested by those clients with whom I have worked. The
topics are directed to employee performance improvement and include
customer relations, how to speak in business environments, how
to communicate (different from the previous topic), how to make
presentations (a big one), how to anticipate your boss, and other
topics by request.
If you would like to discuss your future, your corporation, or
a combination of the two, please contact me here
for more information about individual coaching or request a complimentary
coaching session here.
